The Day Between
My internet is down, and I’m at Vivo, where there’s wireless.
There’s some sort of vague Halloween event going on upstairs, but from the atmosphere, it might as well be tomorrow. Not that I’m complaining: if Halloween was a big thing, everything would be quite excessively complicated, what with October 31 already being the day between my conductor’s and my father’s birthdays.
From where I’m sitting, I can just see a glitter-and-cardboard angel with a trumpet hanging off the railing, so after today, it’ll probably be full-steam ahead for Christmas, almost 2 months in advance. Which also brings to mind how quickly the luxuries of sleeping in and siestas will be yearned for again.
English today was quite hilarious. There was Pepe and Freudian slips and violence, Cyanide & Happiness-style (gratuitous, would-be shocking if it wasn’t laughably absurd). And the October revolution, which was in late october ‘by the Julian calendar still in use in Russia at the time; November 5 by the current Gregorian calendar’. (Wiki)
