I haven’t written a poem in a long time. I owned copies of Alvin Pang’s City of Rain and Alfian Sa’at’s A History of Amnesia, and these Singaporean poets were my early influences.

I suppose I find that prose comes more easily. I most admire William Styron’s prose, but I also treasure the poetic beauty of Albert Camus’s essays.
